Job Description:
This creative and challenging position has arisen within the Design Centre in our Foschini Division. We are looking for a responsible, mature, organised individual, who enjoys working in a team environment and independently. Use your enthusiasm, passion and flair for fashion to develop within a dynamic merchandise and design team. If you want to be part of a movement of creators who are confident, lively and engaged, and have experience as a Fashion Designer then we have an opportunity for you within our Design Centre Department.
[the_ad id=”21943″]Job Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive and technical product drawings and tech packs, to merchants to ensure relevant and cost effective product
- Compile research from various sources on global and local trends and to create a seasonal point of view to be presented back to merchants and other stake holders
- Create look and feel for seasonal merchandise, based on global trend and key lessons learnt (includes direction on silhouette, styling and fabric, print and colour)
- Work on range build structure per commodity prior to strategy
- Provide an effective test options in order to establish new product categories, and relevant iterations on existing product lines.
- Provide the merchandise teams with the relevant trend information and knowledge that’s unique and brand right on an on-going basis
Job Requirements:
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and pressurized environment
- Ability to source and implement effective solutions in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent skills in Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe, InDesign and Microsoft Office
- Practical knowledge of garment construction, fabrics and trims
- Interpersonal skills, assertive and communicate able at all levels, as well as present to large groups
Qualification & Experience:
- Have a high degree of decision making ability and be service orientated
- Proven experience as a designer (5+ years)
- Tertiary qualification in Fashion Design
